Your Canopy Number

Five quick questions and you will see the exact amount of coverage your family needs to keep the house, replace your income, and stay on their feet. It takes about 60 seconds, and you do not need to answer a single medical question.

Step 1 of 5

Who are we covering?

Pick the one that fits. This shapes how long your income needs replacing.

What does your household bring in?

This is the number the whole calculation is built on, so give it your best estimate.

$

Round to the nearest thousand. An estimate is fine.

Your mortgage

If the mortgage is paid off or you rent, leave it at zero and move on.

$

Existing assets to offset what you need

Most people skip this part. We subtract what you already have, so you do not buy coverage you do not need. Rough numbers are fine.

Where should we send your Canopy Number?

We show your number on the next screen. It is yours to keep either way.

Your Canopy Number will display immediately on the next screen. No waiting, no mandatory phone call.

How the Canopy Number works

Your number reflects three obligations: replacing your income for the years your family would need it, paying off the mortgage, and funding your children’s education. Because you also tell us about your savings and any coverage you already hold, we subtract those amounts and show you the gap. In other words, you see the coverage you would actually buy, not the entire theoretical exposure.

What happens after you see your number

Your number flows straight into the rate comparison, so you see real prices from carriers that write policies in your state. Meanwhile, a licensed agent reviews the details and follows up when you want help. If you would rather handle this yourself, the quote tool shows what you need without a phone call, and nothing obligates you to buy.

Why the financial questions matter

Income, mortgage balance and existing assets decide most of the answer, and age and health history decide the price. For that reason, the closer your inputs are, the more useful your number becomes, although an estimate works fine for everything. We never ask health questions on this page, and we collect no medical records of any kind.

Questions people ask about the calculator

  • Is my Canopy Number a quote? No. It is an educational estimate based on what you enter, and your real rate depends on the carrier, your age, your health and your state.
  • Do I have to talk to an agent? No. You see your number on the next screen either way, and the follow up is yours to accept or ignore.
  • What if I already carry coverage through work? Then include it, because we subtract it from the need instead of ignoring it.
  • How accurate is the result? It lands within one coverage band for most families, and an agent confirms the details before you apply.
  • What if my number looks too high? It happens, and it usually means the income replacement years cover young children. Run it again with a shorter income window and compare the results.
